Assassin's Creed, the official game of the video game of the same name, is currently being developed by Ubisoft, a French video game developer and publisher. The game is based on the events of the first novel in the series, The Mummy, and is set in a fictional version of Ancient Egypt. The game can be played from an ancient Egyptian point of view or from a fourth-person perspective. This game, however, will also feature the option of controlling the protagonist from an in-game camera and has a free-roaming option that is similar to Grand Theft Auto. Another game was planned but never released: Assassin's Creed: Embers. The concept, according to an interview with Assassin's Creed writer and director will involve more levels and settings than the original game. It was being created by Ubisoft Montreal. Later, the Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood games, will also feature this in-game player camera.
Censorship
The game was initially released in a censored version for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. The game was uncensored on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game was ultimately censored to remove the supernatural elements of the series, including the use of the amulets which allow the player to conjure up demons and other supernatural attacks. In addition, the game's depiction of Muslims and Jews was also altered and a wedding sequence between the main character and the game's main female companion was removed, replacing it with a sex scene. Despite the changes, the game received positive reviews, with Game Informer praising the game for being faithful to the source material.
Gameplay
Assassin's Creed plays similarly to many other third-person shooters, where the player controls a character with the use of a virtual camera.
